National Stone-Baked Pizza Chain Opening Tampa-Area Restaurant

RIVERVIEW, FL — Mellow Mushroom, a stone-baked pizza chain with more than 160 locations nationwide, is opening a new location this fall in the Tampa area.

An exact opening date for the Riverview restaurant at 10240 Big Bend Road hasn’t been announced yet, according to a new release. The pizza eatery will open in the space next to Glory Days Grill.

Operated by restaurateurs Bob Bashham and Jesse McPherson, the restaurant will be the brand’s 24th in Florida. The pair also franchise Mellow Mushroom locations in Brandon, Clearwater and Wesley Chapel.

Basham, one of the original co-founders of Outback Steakhouse, has more than 40 years of experience working with some of the country’s most successful restaurant groups. In addition to Mellow Mushroom, he also owns and operates concepts including Glory Days Grill, Everglazed Donuts and Bare Naked Kitchen.

Riverview will offer the brand’s hand-tossed, stone-baked pizzas, shareable munchies, greens, remixed sandwiches, smash-style burgers and sweet treats.

The restaurant’s design will feature Mellow Mushroom’s iconic psychedelic style mixed with some local coastal elements to reflect the community.

Mellow Mushroom was founded in Atlanta in 1974 and has locations across 16 states.
