Artwork Honoring Blacks Vandalized At Park
Vandals damaged artwork documenting Black history in Tampa and a nearby city kiosk at Perry Harvey Sr. Park, authorities said. The artwork under a thick layer of glass was either peppered with BB gun bullets or smashed with a sharp instrument about 30 times, causing extensive damage.
Woman Found Guilty Of Stealing Funds From Disabled Veterans
Melanie Marshall has been found guilty of stealing money from the Department of Veterans Affairs that was intended to assist disabled vets to get jobs. Prosecutors said she stole from the VA's Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program when she lied to her VA vocational rehabilitation counselor to continue receiving benefits beyond what had been approved.

Tortured, Then Abandoned, Standard Poodle Rescued By Animal Lover
Donations are being accepted to pay for the medical care of a 2-year-old standard poodle that spent hours sitting in the hot sun with a rope tightly bound around his snout before a passerby finally stopped to help. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is caring for the animal.
Woman Sentenced For Actions During Breach Of U.S. Capitol
A woman is headed to federal prison after pleading guilty to participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, breach on the U.S. Capitol. Corinne Montoni entered the Capitol through a broken door, took several videos with her cell phone, including one in which she said, “We’re in the Capitol cuz this is our house – we paid for this, and they’re trying to steal it from us. Let’s go!”

Girl Rescued From Human Trafficking Ring By Police
Police recently rescued a 17-year-old girl who was being trafficked for prostitution. On Sept. 28, authorities were notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that images of a 17-year-old girl were posted on an online prostitution website.
