Tropical Storm Chances Increase Across FL

The National Hurricane Center on Tuesday increased the chance for tropical development across Florida, possibly impacting July 4th weekend.

A possible low-pressure system with the potential to become a tropical storm may threaten Fourth of July plans for Floridians this weekend.

The National Hurricane Center on Tuesday increased the chance for tropical development to 30 percent across the state, a 10 percent rise from Sunday's forecast.

The brewing disturbance in the Atlantic Ocean could be derivative of a frontal boundary that is "expected to stall and weaken off the Southeast" by the end of the week, spurring a low-pressure system either over Florida, the Atlantic or the eastern Gulf of Mexico by the weekend, the NHC reported.

The probability of a tropical development in the next two days was 0 percent, but the chances could rise in the next week. The graphic showed the storm could creep along the East Coast, possibly impacting Georgia and the Carolinas.

"There remains high uncertainty with this feature, but the main impact is expected to be heavy rainfall locally into the weekend," the National Weather Service's Tampa Bay office said in a Facebook post published Tuesday.
