Publix, Target, Trader Joe's, Aldi: 2024 Labor Day Store Hours In FL

FLORIDA — Labor Day is Monday, giving many of us a day off work, and one last long summer weekend in which to celebrate American workers at gatherings or barbecues.

Most retailers and grocery stores like Trader Joe’s, Target and Publix have what you need for any kind of event — but what happens when Labor Day comes and something is missing from your end-of-summer bash?

It's almost a guarantee you'll run short on condiments, paper plates, charcoal, or drinks on Monday, Sept. 2, the official Labor Day holiday. Fortunately for last-minute shoppers, the majority of retailers and grocery stores in Florida will still be open for that last-minute assist.

Grocery Stores

Most chain grocery stores will be open on Labor Day, but there’s at least one that won’t. Store holiday hours are subject to change, so call ahead before heading there.

Chains holiday hours are:

• Albertsons: In most locations open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• ALDI: Most locations will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Costco: Closed on the holiday
• Kroger: In most locations open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Lidl: In most locations open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Piggly Wiggly: In most locations open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Publix: Most stores open at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.; some Publix stores close at 9 p.m. regularly. Publix Liquors stores open at 9 a.m. or 10 a.m., depending on the location.
• Safeway: In most locations open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Sam’s Club: Clubs will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for members and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members.
• Target: In most locations open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• The Fresh Market: Open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Labor Day.
• Trader Joe’s: Open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Walmart: In most locations open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Whole Foods Market: In most locations open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• CVS: Some pharmacies may be closed or have reduced hours depending on location.
• Rite Aid: Most stores and pharmacies will be open but could have varying hours of operation.
• Walgreens: Stores will be open regular hours, though many pharmacies will be closed. Check your local store hours.

Retailers On Labor Day

Forget something other than food? These retailers will also be open on Labor Day if you need some sunblock, lawn chairs, or an extra package of toilet paper. Some will have modified hours, so it's worth it to call ahead or check the store website for your location.
