Price made his MLB debut with the Rays, playing with the team since 2008.
The southpaw was voted best pitcher in the league in 2012 when he won the Cy Young Award, and is a four-time MLB All-Star player.
According to ESPN, Price may fill-in for Tigers pitcher and fellow Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer, who declined a six-year and $144 million contract renewal with the Tigers.
Price is slated to play in Detroit through 2015.
