FL School Districts, Universities Plan Closures Due To Nicole

School districts, colleges and universities around Florida have announced closures ahead of Hurricane Nicole.

FLORIDA — With Hurricane Nicole making landfall on Florida's east coast late Wednesday or early Thursday, Florida school systems have announced closures

The Florida Department of Education said it's monitoring the storm and working with school districts to decide whether to close.

Schools that have announced closures so far include:

  • A.D. Henderson University School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Brevard County Schools will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. All activities, events and programs are canceled. The district is closed on Friday due to Veterans Day.
  • Clay County Schools are closed Wednesday.
  • DeSoto County Schools have a half day on Wednesday and are closed Thursday.
  • Duval County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Flagler County Schools will have an early dismissal on Wednesday and will be closed Thursday.
  • Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Glades County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Hardee County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Hendry County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Hernando County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Highlands County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Hillsborough County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. Indian River County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Lafayette County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.

  • Marion County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Martin County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Miami-Dade County Schools will be closed Wednesday.
  • Nassau County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Okeechobee County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Orange County Schools has early dismissal on Wednesday and will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Osceola County Schools will end classes an hour early on Wednesday and will remain closed on Thursday. Due to Veterans Day, school is already closed on Friday.
  • Palm Beach County Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Pasco County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Polk County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Putnam County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Seminole County Schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday.
  • St. Johns County Schools will have early dismissal on Wednesday and will be closed Thursday.
  • St. Lucie County Schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday.
  • Sumter County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
