Search For Murder Victim’s Car Ongoing, Police Say

A 53-year-old Tampa man was found dead in his Chariton Avenue home Monday night.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department is investigating the death of a 53-year-old man whose body was in his home Monday evening.

According to the agency, William L. McGoff’s body was found inside his home in the 4900 block of Chariton Avenue. His 2013 black Hyundai was missing at the time. Police are now actively searching for the vehicle, which has Florida tag number 113VFT on it.

“The murder does not appear to be random and the murderer may have been known to the victim,” police wrote in a Dec. 13 email to media. “The cause of death has not been officially determined.”

Police say they went to McGoff’s home after receiving a request to check on his welfare.

Anyone with information in the case or who has seen the vehicle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TiPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the suspect in this case.
