Soaring Heat In Tampa Bay’s Short Workweek Forecast
Steamy temperatures that made outdoor conditions oppressive over the 4th of July holiday are expected to stick around.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents and visitors hoping for a break from the heat aren’t going to get it in the short workweek ahead. According to forecasters at the National Weather Service, the region is in for a string of days with highs in the low to mid-90s with feels-like temperatures around 100.
Wednesday is expected to kick the short workweek off with sunny conditions in the daytime hours. The day’s high is expected to soar into low to mid-90s with a feels-like temperature around 100 degrees. A 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms move into the picture in the afternoon hours. Storm chances rise to about 40 percent overnight when the low should only drop into the upper 70s.

Thursday is expected to bring sunny conditions in the earlier part of the day and a high once again in the low to mid-90s. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon hours. A slight chance of storms is expected to remain into the overnight hours when the low again will only drop into the upper 70s.
Friday is expected to bring mostly cloudy conditions in the daytime hours with a 50 percent chance of storms in the afternoon. The day’s high, however, is expected to only climb into the low 90s. Scattered thunderstorms are expected in the overnight hours along with a low in the upper 70s.

Forecasters say the upcoming weekend could be a bit of a washout. Showers are expected in much of the region starting after 9 a.m. on both days. Rain chances are also expected to stick around into the nighttime hours on both Saturday and Sunday.
While organized, severe weather isn’t expected over the next few days, forecasters warn that thunderstorms that move through the region could bring locally heavy rain. Strong wind gusts and lightning are also concerns.
