1. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is receiving 7,500 meals from Canidae Pet Food to feed its current shelter dogs this month. The donation is part of the company's "Pound for Pound to the RESCUE" effort, a pound-for pound donation drive, and celebrates the nationwide expansion of Canidae's Kibble Refill Stations at Petco. 2. A 60-year-old New Port Richey man has been arrested and accused of exploiting an elderly person to buy thousands of dollars' worth of guns, alcohol, and a dog, according to arrest documents. Police say Jay Renton transferred money from the victim's bank account to his own and proceeded to use over $28,000 without permission. (WFLA)
3. The first SoHo ArtWalk is coming this October. The one-day event will feature local artists, painters-at-work, face painting, caricature drawing, custom poetry by typewriter, and more. Local artwork from a variety of styles will be available for purchase during the event. (That's So Tampa)
4. Local tourism dollars are surging to record highs in Tampa, according to Visit Tampa Bay. Total Tourist Development Tax collections within the first 11 months of the 2022 fiscal year hit nearly $54 million. That represents a 59 percent increase over the same period in 2021. (Fox 13 Tampa)
5. 59-year-old Ahmad Al Saleh of Tampa has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for participating in a conspiracy to defraud the government out of food benefits for needy families. The court also ordered Al Saleh to make restitution to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for $654,502.28. (Tampa Patch)
