Suspect Injures Foot Fleeing From Police

The incident was reported to the Tampa Police Department.

A suspect fleeing from police injured their foot on Tuesday after authorities attempted to take them into custody, according to a report from the Tampa Police Department.

Early Tuesday morning, someone entered the victim's occupied apartment an took two purses valued at $60, police say. The unidentified suspect tried to sell the purses back to the victim on two occasions, police say.

The suspect was identified after having their rights read, but denied the offense, police say. The suspect was unable to justify the extortion charges, but fled when police tried to arrest them. The suspect "seriously injured left foot, requiring hospitalization," according to a report.

Charges have been filed with the State Attorney's Office.
