Among the notable attributes of Tampa International Airport, according to readers, is its diversity of restaurants, bars and shops throughout its terminals and its on-site hotel.

Meanwhile, the J.D. Power Customer Satisfaction Survey gave Tampa International Airport top honors for its customer service. TPA was ranked No. 1 Large Airport in North America for the second year in a row.

The survey credited the airport's easy-to-navigate design, automated people mover system and customer experience team with this second honor.

Made up of 22 full-time employees and 187 volunteers, the team works around the clock to assist passengers on their journeys and help solve any problems that may come up along the way.

“They’re just that friendly face that you don’t find in other airports,” said Shannon Boos, TPA senior manager of terminal operations for ground transportation and guest experience. “They are absolutely a big part of this honor because they are so positive and proactive when it comes to watching for passengers who need assistance.”

The team assists with wayfinding, answers questions and directs passengers to the lost-and-found area.

Boos said the team also plays a big role in helping guide passengers around major construction projects and even provides 400 public behind-the-scenes tours of the airport each year.
