Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:

1. A Tampa man suffered bite wounds to his head, face and chest from an alligator attack while shooting an instructional video in Hillsborough County's Lake Thonotosassa on August 3 for his company, DefeatX. Drone footage captured the encounter. (Tampa Patch)

2. Tampa City Council passed a resolution on Thursday to support "reproductive freedom and privacy." Councilman Bill Carlson wanted to go further and create an ordinance, which was shot down by other councilmembers. (WTSP)

3. A Marco's Pizza location in Riverview is paying thousands in fines to the U.S. Department of Labor after illegally having three young workers stay on shift beyond what federal labor laws allow. One teen was also injured by a power-driven bakery machine, another violation. No criminal charges resulted from the violations. (WFLA)

4. Labyrinth Studios in Seminole Heights needs help after a fire left their studio flooded and with extended water damage. The studio hit a $10,000 fundraising goal in the less than 24 hours thanks to community support and will continue working to re-open. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

5. Hillsborough County commissioners denied permission on Thursday for yard waste incinerators to operate in Lutz. Residents have concerns about air pollution in the area. The applicant planned to operate 24-hour-a-day, seven-days-a-week burning. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)

  • City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor said that Tampa Police will not arrest citizens for abortions during a "Coffee with Castor" event. The Tampa Police Department did not comment. (Axios)
