ICYMI: Tampa Bay’s 10 Fastest-Growing Companies: 2016 Inc. 5000

TAMPA BAY, FL — Inc. magazine has rolled out its annual Inc. 5000 listing of the country’s fastest-growing companies. While no Tampa Bay area firms cracked the coveted Top 10, a number of local firms did earn high marks.

The Inc. 5000 is an annual listing of the country’s most rapidly growing businesses based on percentage revenue growth. For its 2016 list, Inc. looked at revenue growth between 2012 and 2015. Companies included on the list had to be American-based, privately held, for profit firms. They could not be divisions or subsidiaries of other companies as of Dec. 31, 2015. In addition, each firm on the list had to be up and running by March 31, 2012.

Loot Crate, Paint Nite, CalCom Solar, eLuxurySupply.com and Company.com earned first- through fifth-place honors on the ranking for 2016. Tampa Bay’s first entry on the list came in 22nd place. Paykings, is an Apollo Beach-based financial services firm. Its 2015 revenue was pegged at $8.1 million by Inc. with a three-year revenue growth rate of 7,905 percent recorded.

The Inc. 5000 represents the “superheroes of the U.S. economy,” the magazine explained on its website. “America’s fastest-growing private companies wield powers like strategy, service and innovation.”

Tampa Bay’s other Top 10 economic “superheroes” include:

• The Penny Hoarder ranked 32nd overall. This media firm is based in St. Petersburg. Its 2015 revenue came in at $7.5 million, according to Inc. Its three-year growth was pegged at 6,934 percent.
• Stratus Video ranked 66th overall. The Clearwater-based telecommunications company had a recorded 2015 revenue of $11.6 million. Its three-year growth was 4,190 percent, according to Inc.
• E-Telequote Insurance came in 113th overall. The Clearwater-based company earned $15.6 million in 2015, according to Inc. Its three-year growth was pegged at 2,909 percent.
• KnowBe4 is a Clearwater security company. It ranked 139th overall with $6.8 million in revenue recorded in 2015. The company’s three-year growth was 2,528 percent.
• Private Label Skin, a St. Petersburg manufacturing firm, earned 281st-place honors overall. It had a 2015 revenue of $21 million and a 1,397 percent three-year growth rate, according to Inc.
• The Fulfillment Lab of Tampa earned 285th-place honors. The logistics and transportation company had a 2015 revenue of $8.5 million, according to Inc., and saw a three-year growth rate of 1,375 percent.
• Harmony Healthcare earned 418th-place honors. The Tampa-based health staffing firm experienced 922 percent growth over a three-year period. Its 2015 revenue was pegged at $40.2 million.
• Digital Media Solutions ranked 434th overall. The Clearwater media firm experienced three-year growth of 881 percent. Its 2015 revenue was $54.2 million.
• Cabinets.com ranked 498th overall. The Tampa company offers discount kitchen cabinets online. Its three-year growth rate was pegged at 768 percent with $13.9 million in 2015 revenue reported by Inc.
