Tampa Bay Workweek Weather: Scorching Heat, Daily Rain

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area in the weather department as the workweek continues.

TAMPA, FL — Ready for those sauna-like conditions across the Tampa Bay area to go away? Unfortunately, the folks at the National Weather Service say that’s just not likely over the week ahead. Highs in the 90s are expected across the region along with a strong possibility for thunderstorms to crop up each day this week.

Monday is expected to kick things off with partly sunny skies before and after daily storms roll in. Forecasters say there’s about a 40 percent chance of rain across the region with a high around 90 degrees expected. Despite strong chances for scattered thunderstorms, the feels-like temperature should hit around 99 degrees.

Rain chances dry out a bit heading into the overnight hours. Isolated storms are possible with a low in the upper 70s expected. Partly cloudy skies are anticipated once any storms move out.

The good news is that Tuesday’s rain chances are lower – around 20 percent. The bad news is that forecasters expect the day to really heat up with a high around 92 degrees anticipated in much of the region and a feels-like temperature around 103. A partly cloudy night with a low in the upper 70s is in the forecast.

Rain chances begin increasing again heading into Wednesday when the day’s high should reach the low 90s yet again. Forecasters say there's a 30 percent chance for scattered storms during the daytime hours. Storm chances continue into the overnight hours when the low will drop only into the upper 70s.

Forecasters say both Thursday and Friday should bring about a 40 percent chance for scattered storms during the daytime hours. Thursday is expected to be a bit on the hotter side than Friday with a high around 92 degrees to Friday’s 90. Overnight conditions include a chance for rain both evenings and lows in the upper 70s.

Severe weather isn’t in the cards for the workweek, but forecasters do say “locally heavy downpours, frequent lightning strikes and gusty winds” are likely to crop up with daily storms, according to Monday's Hazardous Weather Outlook report.
