Tampa Bay Workweek Weather: Summertime Ups and Downs

TAMPA BAY, FL — Summer may officially be over for many students in the Tampa Bay area, but that doesn’t mean the weather intends to follow a school district's calendar. According to the National Weather Service, the region is in for a week of a fairly normal summertime conditions. That means hot and steamy with a chance for daily thunderstorms.
Monday kicks things off with a partly sunny start to the day with a high in the low 90s anticipated. The heat index is expected to climb to a balmy 102 degrees in much of the region. A 50 percent chance of storms creeps into the forecast in the afternoon hours and sticks around through early evening. Overnight, the low should fall into the upper 70s.
Tuesday is anticipated to shape up much the same as Monday. The key difference will be slightly lower high and low temperatures, forecasters say.

Wednesday is expected to bring a 20 percent chance of storms in the early afternoon hours. Those storm chances rise to about 60 percent in the late afternoon and stick around through the nighttime hours. The day’s high is once again expected to reach the low 90s with a low in the upper to mid-70s anticipated.
Scattered thunderstorms are in the cards Thursday with a high temperature near 90 expected. Overnight, there’s a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms and a low in the mid-70s anticipated.

Friday should kick off with partly sunny conditions and a high near 90 degrees. Rain chances heading into the afternoon hours are set at 40 percent. The overnight low is expected to fall into the upper 70s with a 20 percent chance of continued storms in the forecast.
While organized severe weather isn’t anticipated this week, forecasters do warn “typical” afternoon thunderstorms can produce rather harsh conditions. Storms that develop will be capable of kicking up strong winds, heavy rain and lots of lightning, forecasters say.
