Tampa Man Set On Fire Dies; Attacker Charged With Murder: Sheriff
The Hillsborough sheriff has charged Earl Hargrove Jr., 34, with pre-meditated murder after the man he is accused of lighting on fire died.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has charged Earl Hargrove Jr., 34, with pre-meditated murder after the man he is accused of lighting on fire at a gas station last month died.
According to the sheriff's office, the man in his 60s who was doused with gasoline and set on fire at the Mobil gas station at 14516 N 22nd St. in Tampa on May 28 died from his injuries on Monday.

Hargrove was already under arrest for the attack and is now facing additional charges of pre-meditated first-degree murder and aggravated battery with great bodily harm.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in this case,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time."

On Sunday, May 28, at 4:32 p.m., Hargrove and the victim got into a verbal fight at the Mobil gas station. Afterward, the sheriff's office said Hargrove bought a small amount of gasoline from the gas station, poured it on the victim and lit him on fire.
The victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital with critical injuries.
