Tampa To San Diego Nonstop Flights Set By Southwest

Southwest Airlines is kicking off nonstop service between Tampa and San Diego with $99 fares.

TAMPA, FL — Flying to San Diego out of Tampa International Airport is about to become much more convenient for travelers. Southwest Airlines announced plans to launch a new nonstop route early next year. To sweeten the prospect for passengers, it’s also offering $99 one-way fares for a limited time.

The new direct flights between Tampa and San Diego are set to begin on Jan. 8, 2018. Folks who want to cash in on the $99 deal must purchase their tickets between June 22 and 11:59 p.m. June 26, 2017.

Travel under the offer is valid between Jan. 8 and March 7, 2018. The days of the week passengers may fly vary based on the city of takeoff. Travel from Florida under the $99 deal is only good for flights on Tuesdays through Fridays. Travel to Florida is valid on Sundays through Wednesdays.

Southwest on Thursday also announced plans to increase seasonal routes between Kansas City and Fort Myers.

The addition of a nonstop route to San Diego was welcomed news to officials at Tampa International Airport. They took to Twitter Thursday to share the announcement.

According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, a recent poll of its readers indicated that area residents selected San Diego as one of their top choices of places TIA should add nonstop routes to.
