  • TGH and its partners are celebrating a milestone in kidney transplants with 7,500 transplants completed.

  • Tampa Bucs offensive lineman Tristan Wirf has been named for the 2023 Pro Bowl team by the NFL.

Here are the top stories today in Tampa:

1. Tampa General Hospital surgeons with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and Tampa General Medical Group and nephrologists with Florida Kidney Physicians LLC have set a record with 7,500 kidney transplants at the hospital. In 2020, Tampa General's Kidney Transplant Program was ranked third in the nation by volume and, in 2021, the institute performed 563 total organ transplants. (Press Release Desk)

2. A decision is expected soon in the case of suspended State Attorney Andrew Warren vs. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Warren claims he was illegally suspended from office as the State Attorney from Hillsborough County by DeSantis. Judge Hinkle is in charge of the case. (WFLA)

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs has been named to the 2023 Pro Bowl team for the NFL. Wirfs is the highest-graded right tackle in the NFL for 2022, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF) metrics The Pro Bowl is happening Sunday, Feb. 5, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. (WTSP)

4. Charges against former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown have been dropped and the prosecution is now terminated, according to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's office. Prosecutors determined they "could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt a battery took place." (ABC Action News)
