Here are the top stories in Tampa today:

1. Tampa's Sen. Janet Cruz is fighting to keep her seat against Republican veteran Jay Collins on Tuesday in Senate District 14. Cruz, a Democrat, originally took the seat from a Republican in 2018 by only 411 votes and now is facing a battle in a re-drawn district that is deep purple. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8. 2. Thousands of Hillsborough County residents took advantage of early voting this cycle, according to Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer. Early voting ended on Sunday. Election Day for the general election is Nov. 8. (WFLA)

3. South Florida was crushed by Temple in college football 54-28 in Philadelphia on Saturday. Quarterback Katravis Marsh threw three touchdown passes for South Florida. 4. 34-year-old Tampa native, Aaron Carter, well-known for pop songs and his career as a rapper and actor, was found dead Saturday at his home in Lancaster, California, according to TMZ. The death of the singer was confirmed by family representatives. (ABC Action News)

5. Tampa Police on Sunday morning said they found the body of a man in his 30s who appeared to have been shot dead. The body was discovered at the underpass on West Hillsborough Avenue and North Dale Mabry Highway. An investigation is now underway. (WFLA)
