Here are the top five stories in Tampa today:

1. The Hillsborough County Sherriff's Office Ultimate Run raised $20,000 that will be split between two organizations helping local underprivileged children. Six hundred people participated in the run, which will benefit Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches and Children with a Vision Inc. (WFLA)

2. A Homosassa woman has filed a complaint with the Florida Elections Commission claiming a no-party affiliation candidate entered a Citrus County Commission race to block the primary. The complaint said Paul Grogan has not campaigned for District 2 anywhere but on social media. (Florida Politics)

3. A University of Tampa (UT) student was shot and killed early Saturday morning in South Tampa, according to the police. Police said the victim was hanging out on South Howard Ave. and caught an Uber to his home near the 1000 block of West Arch Street before he was shot, the agency said in a news release. Due to Marsy's Law and the circumstances in the incident, neither the shooter nor the shooting victim are being identified at this time. (WTSP)

4. St. Petersburg Police Department said a woman was attacked inside her apartment at Beacon 430 luxury apartments and escaped by running to a neighbor for help. The accused, 43-year-old William Roundtree, was allegedly armed with a butcher knife and a steak knife according to the victim. Police said he broke into another apartment earlier in the day. Authorities said both victims are doing alright. (ABC Action News)

5. Independent Bar St. Pete will permanently close on October 2 after nearly six years in the Edge District. The bar blamed the closure on struggles following the pandemic. The Seminole Heights location in Tampa will remain open. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
