Vice President Joe Biden Stumping for Hillary Clinton in Florida

Vice President Joe Biden will visit Tampa and Palm Beach Gardens Wednesday on behalf of Hillary Clinton.

TAMPA, FL — With Election Day almost here and Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton’s polling numbers faltering, the party is pulling out the stops to stump for its candidate. Vice President Joe Biden intends to make two appearances in Florida Wednesday to encourage residents to “Get Out the Early Vote.”

Biden’s first appearance on behalf of Clinton is set to take place in Tampa on Nov. 2. He’s scheduled to take the stage at the Museum of Science & Industry, 4801 E. Fowler Ave., around 11:15 a.m. Doors to the event open at 9:15 a.m.

After making his Tampa stop, Biden will travel to Palm Beach State College’s Amphitheater for a 2:30 p.m. rally. Both rallies are meant to encourage residents to take advantage of early voting, according to the Clinton campaign. Biden is also expected to address Clinton’s vision for the economy.

Biden’s campaign stops were announced as Clinton’s projected lead in Florida evaporated. She’s also taken a big hit in national polls following the announcement on Friday by FBI Director James Comey that his agency had discovered new emails related to their investigation of Clinton’s private email server.

Comey’s vague letter to Congressional leaders has been the subject of heavy criticism since news of its existence hit. The bombshell was dropped just 11 days before the Nov. 8 presidential election.

The FBI has known about the new batch of emails related to its investigation of Clinton for weeks, CNN is reporting. The emails in question don't belong to Clinton herself but to one of her closest aides, Huma Abedin. Abedin's emails were discovered on a computer belonging to Anthony Weiner, the disgraced former Congressman from New York and her estranged husband.

That information, though, was not made clear in Comey's letter to Congress announcing the new developments, which didn't say who the emails belonged to, how the FBI found them or in what "unrelated case" the emails were found.

Clinton’s polling numbers have gone into a downward spiral since Comey’s announcement. On Friday, she led Republican challenger Donald Trump by 4.6 percentage points in national polls, according to RealClear Politics. By Monday, that lead had dwindled to 2.5 percentage points. As of Tuesday morning, her lead was just 2.2 points.

Clinton’s once healthy lead in the Sunshine State has also disappeared. As of Tuesday, Trump led the statewide polling average by 1 percentage point.

Trump has also been bombarded with scandals over the past few weeks. His numbers in national polls dropped sharply following the three presidential debates and the release of a video that showed him making lewd comments about women. Although the video was about a decade old, the New York businessman has also been fending off allegations from women who say he touched them inappropriately.

Most recently, information surfaced that the FBI was looking at a possible financial connection between Trump and Russia. News broke Monday night, however, that no clear link has been found, according to the New York Times.
