Woman's Wallet Stolen in Food Court at Mall

The incident was reported to the Tampa Police Department.

Authorities are searching for someone they say stole a woman's wallet while she was in the food court at a South Tampa mall.

Around 2:28 p.m. on Wednesday, the unidentified woman was sitting at a table in the food court, her brown wallet on the table near her, according to a report from the Tampa Police Department. That's when a man came up to her, slammed his hand on the table and grabbed her wallet, the report says.

The man exited the mall and went in an unknown direction, police say.

He is described as a black man in his early 20's, about 5'10 with an average build and short black hair, the report says. He was last seen wearing a blue "Rays" jersey and camouflage cargo pants, the report says.

Inside the wallet were two credit cards and the woman's iPhone, the report says. The cards have been cancelled.

The phone was pinged to an area near 22nd St S and Queensboro Avenue S in St. Petersburg. The phone was turned off, and no "further movement" has been reported, the report says.
