Crash Closes Stretch of 54th Avenue South

A woman was seriously injured in a vehicle-versus-bicycle crash in St. Pete Thursday evening.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking motorists to avoid a section of 54th Avenue South after a Thursday evening crash.

According to the agency, the crash on 54th Avenue South, near 41st Street, occurred before 5:50 p.m. Nov. 10. A vehicle hit a woman on a bicycle, according to police.

The bicyclist suffered serious injuries, police wrote in an email to media. The motorist stopped and is cooperating with police, the agency noted.

The crash has forced the closing of 54th Avenue South westbound from 34th Street to the toll bridge.

It is unclear how long the road will remain closed.
