ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A domestic dispute between a 72-year-old man and his wife took a violent turn Thursday night, ending with the man being taken into protective custody.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 5700 block of 66th Street North in the Fairhaven Mobile Home Park around 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18 after receiving a call about the domestic dispute. The man’s wife told deputies about the argument and said her husband had armed himself with a gun.

Deputies say the man began firing the gun inside the home. The wife was able to get out safely, but the man initially would not leave.
