ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a Friday night crash that left two teenagers injured.

According to police, Stephanie Marie Mendez, 26, was heading east on 54th Avenue North around 10 p.m. When Mendez reached the intersection of 22nd Street North, police say she waited to make a left, northbound turn.

At that time, a 2014 Bash scooter operated by a 17-year-old boy was heading west in the curb lane of 54th Avenue North, approaching 22nd Street North. The teen, an email from police said, failed to stop when the light turned red.
