Woman Drove Into Jail Transport Van, Cops Say
Breaking: A St. Petersburg Police officer was injured when the vehicle ran over his foot, officials say.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 30-year-old woman faces a number of criminal charges after St. Petersburg Police say she ran into a prisoner transport van Saturday morning.
According to police, officers were in the process of loading prisoners into the van when a women drove her vehicle into them. A police officer was sideswiped and the van was struck, an email from the agency said.
The woman then took off, but was stopped at 2nd Avenue North and Bayshore, police said.

“As she was being taken into custody, her vehicle rolled over an officer’s foot,” the email said. That officer was treated for minor injuries at Bayfront Hospital. It is unclear if the officer sideswiped required medical attention.
Emily Spiess was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding and possession of marijuana.
