Anarchist Group Anonymous Monitoring Tarpon Rape Case Tweets
The group has reportedly been in contact with locals via Twitter and is sending a lone message: 'don't attack this young lady or else,' according to ABC Action News.

ABC Action News recently reported that the group of hacktivists, Anonymous is making its presence known in Tarpon Springs via social networking.
The news site reports that members from Anonymous are monitoring Twitter and are sending the message:

The interaction from Anonymous members comes after the arrest of 17-year-old Jared Alexander Alissandratos by Tarpon Springs Police. Alissandratos was charged with sexual battery after he was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl during a party at his father's waterfront home in Tarpon Springs.
Within days of the news, social media sites like which lead to local Patch blogger Tommy Frain's post about rape culture in Tarpon Springs.
According to the local news hub, a member from the group spoke with a reporter over the phone about the action being taken.

"What it comes down to is what your doing online has real world repercussions," the member told ABC Action News.
The member added that the group's goal is to shield the victim from some of the hate that is being thrust into social networking sites.
According to the member, everything from home addresses to phone numbers and GPS tags were obtained through the monitoring of tweets.
Soon after the hate tweets began, Anonymous tweeted the following message of caution:
"Anonymous is watching every Facebook status you post and Tweet you send."
Some of the tweets sent by local teens were removed while others are still live on the popular social media site.
In the past, the group has not stopped until the online hate is gone. Anonymous told ABC Action News that the case in Tarpon Springs is no different.
Anonymous has been linked to such high profile cases as a teen's rape in Ohio and the re-opening of a sexual assault in Canada.
