Florida Amendment 3: What a Yes Vote Means

Whether you head to the polls Nov. 6 to cast your vote or you’re planning on voting early, you can count on having to decipher a very long ballot. In addition to national, state and local candidates, this year’s ballot also includes a number of proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution.

Amendment 3: State Government Revenue Limitation

This amendment sets the state’s revenue limit based on a formula that takes inflation and population growth into account.

Opponents, including the League of Women Voters of Florida, say this would negatively impact the state and its ability to provide services.

Supporters say the measure would prevent the state from taxing beyond a family’s ability to pay and that it would force government to become more efficient.
