After his recent re-election, the Tarmpa Bay Times reviewed some reasons why Tarpon Springs beloved Mayor ran unopposed.
For many Tarponites, Mayor David O. Archie's unopposed run in the recent election was not a surprise according to the Tampa Bay Times.
An excerpt from the article reads, "there's a reason nobody challenged his recent bid for re-election: He's too good to beat."
told the Times, "It would be crazy to run against David with his record of community service."

The question of Archie's future after his final term with the city ends in 2016 is inevitable. Will he stay local or go for a position at the state level?

According to the Times, Archie said that his local ties are stronger than his desire to go outside of them.
At the community level, Archie is able to see and experience the changes that are being made whereas in a state position, he might only see flashes of those progressions.
"When I was a child it didn't feel like everyone had access to city government. Only a certain group," Archie told the Times. "These days, I hope everyone who wants to have their voices heard knows they can come to City Hall and get a fair hearing."
