Officials: Stay Out of the Water at Gulf Beaches

Even though skies may be clearing, beachgoers should still stay out of the water for now, Pinellas County officials warned Monday morning.

Rough surf along the beaches, six- to eight-foot waves and the possibility of rip tides pose a hazard until the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac passes, officials said.

Beachgoers are asked to avoid going in the Gulf of Mexico waters while storm conditions persist.

At Clearwater Beach, , meaning there is no swimming allowed and lifeguards were not on duty.
