Officials: Stay Out of the Water at Gulf Beaches
Rough surf, large waves and the possibility of rip tides caused by Tropical Storm Isaac pose a hazard to swimmers, even if the skies clear up.
Even though skies may be clearing, beachgoers should still stay out of the water for now, Pinellas County officials warned Monday morning.
Rough surf along the beaches, six- to eight-foot waves and the possibility of rip tides pose a hazard until the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac passes, officials said.
Beachgoers are asked to avoid going in the Gulf of Mexico waters while storm conditions persist.
