Peace Flags Fly High in Tarpon Springs

As the weekend dedicated to the Peace 4 Tarpon project approaches, organizers add finishing touches around town.

A final installation of the Peace Flag Project will take place on Thursday morning as volunteers hang peace flags from the bayou at Craig Park east down Tarpon Avenue.

Peace flags hung by the main staircase at the bayou are considered a public art installation and will remain throughout this weekend's Fine Arts Festival, which draws thousands to the area.

The organization will be posted up at the festival with a table to promote their mission.

Peace 4 Tarpon launched the Peace Flag Project a couple months back and have worked countless hours to bring the event to life.

Weekly meetings at the Tarpon Sunday Market drew support as residents created peace flags from donated materials.

Small businesses like Eco-Bean also created and hung the flags to show support for the project.
