Reader's Speak: Frankie's Patriot BBQ Opens in Tarpon Springs

A local man decided to leave the corporate world and open a restaurant in Tarpon Springs after losing his son in Afghanistan.

A couple weeks ago we brought you a story about a man who opened a BBQ restaurant in memory of his son, a soldier who died in the line of duty.

Craig Gross opened Frankie's Patriot BBQ in June. Craig's son was named Frank Robert Gross. The decor inside Frankie's is mostly donations, according to Gross, from flags to photos and military memorabilia.

The story inspired some of our Facebook Page readers. Here's what they had to say:

Julie Angelis Boehler wrote: "a positive way to celebrate the life of someone who gave his for our country."

Wayne Pimm wrote: "Got take-out from here two weeks ago and it was great! I had the ribs and a friend ate the hell-burger. Had to sign a waiver it was so hot but he ate the whole thing. I highly recommend the food. Thank you for your son's ultimate sacrifice for his Country."

Stephen Stulic wrote: "I've been there. These are good people dealing with a tough situation in way that demonstrates their compassion, dignity and the love that swells up inside for their son. These are real people, with a singular dream, following their heart, and not some corporation with a special sauce and no soul. You feel it when you walk in the front door. I know, I did. They deserve our respect, our attention and our "let’s try that new place” money we’ve been holding on too. See ya there!!"
