Rest In Peace Officer Nicholas Wood

Officer Nicholas William Wood served Tarpon Springs proudly September 21st 2017. His final rest was June 17th 2025. He was a good guy who is missed.

Officer Wood and Sgt. Sapino were thanked by the father of a girl who needed help. The father said they were caring and professional. The father called it refreshing to talk to the TSPD.

A member of Tarpon Springs sent a handwritten letter to TSPD. The letter is a bit difficult to read. The letter is thanking Officer Wood for kindly helping an elderly woman.

06/13/2019
Officer Wood received a Departmental Letter of Commendation for helping dealing with a mentally ill violent man armed with two large kitcen knives. The man was taken into custody.

04/11/2020
Sgt. Crawford nominated Officer Wood for Officer of the Quarter from the Alpha-Late Squad. Officer Wood was assigned to Zone 3. Officer Wood had been proactive with traffic stops, citizen contacts and numerous reports being taken. Officer Wood was credited as being a team player. Officer Wood was Awarded Officer of the Quarter of the first quarter of 2020 by TSPD.

Officer Wood received a Department Letter of Commendation for helping capture a car thief. The car had GPS and Officer Wood assisted in locating the vehicle based on that GPS information. A vehicle was found with a dome light lit.

Mr. Stamas of Tarpon Springs wanted to thank Officer Wood for his compassion and concern coupled with his professionalism displayed in encounters dealing with his daughter when Officers were needed at his home.

Officer Wood received The Safe Driving Award from The Tarpon Springs Police Department. He drove safely for five year straight.

A member of Tarpon Springs thanked Officer Wood for resolving a complaint of people lighting off Greek bombs. Officer Wood received a Departmental Letter of Commendation.

Officer Wood & Officer Rachel Rodriguez were awarded Departmental Letters of Commendation for helping catch a car burglar.

05/15/2025
A member of Tarpon Springs came into the TSPD Station and wanted to thank Officer Wood and Officer Moreno for putting into medical care. She said this saved her life.

Undated
An undated handwritten letter was written by Christina and Conor Hamilton thanking Officer Wood for the way he deals with people. They said he gives his best. They said this makes the people around you feel pretty lucky.
