Tarpon Elementary Students Hula Hoop for Heart Health
To honor National Heart Month, the school partnered with Molina Healthcare of Florida to raise money for education.

Tarpon Springs Elementary School recently teamed up with Molina Healthcare of Florida for a “Hula Hoop for Heart Health” contest to bring awareness to the issue.
More than 350 second, third, fourth and fifth grade students took part in the hula hooping, got some exercise and raised $1,000. The money was donated to Tarpon Springs Elementary by Molina Healthcare.
The children were also joined by Dr. Cleo, Molina’s cat doctor mascot.

“We were thrilled to partner with Tarpon Springs Elementary for this terrific event and share with the community how important it is to take care of your heart,” said Steven Snider, director of community outreach for Molina Healthcare of Florida. “Hula hooping is a fun and cost-effective way to generate health benefits -- it’s also something the whole family can do together.”
According to Molina Healthcare, hula hooping is a low-impact activity that can help regulate your body weight and build cardiovascular endurance. It also burns 200 calories every 30 minutes and can help reduce or relieve stress.
