Tarpon High Culinary Team Takes First in State Competition
In a recent statewide competition, students from Jacobson Culinary Academy impressed judges for a big victory.

According to Pinellas County Schools, Tarpon Springs High's team of talented Jacobson Academy students won first place in the Florida ProStart Culinary Team Competition.
Their 2013 victory in the tournament is the school's second after their first in 2010, Pinellas County Schools reported.
The competition is held annually by the Florida Lodging and Restaurant Association. More than 50 schools were represented in the contest.

According to Pinellas County Schools, in addition to their overall first place win, a number of students won awards in different areas of expertise:
- First place in the Keiser University Edible Centerpiece competition

- Second place in the Johnson and Wales University Culinary Gourmet Meal competition

All together, the team of students received more than $200,000 in scholarships, Pinellas County Schools wrote.
