Tarpon Springs 4th Of July Fireworks, Picnic: 2019 Guide

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — The City of Tarpon Springs will kick of its Fourth of July celebration with an old-fashioned picnic and fireworks show.

With a 50/50 chance of rain and the unpredictability of weather in Florida in July, to be on the safe side, you'd better bring an umbrella if you're heading out to celebrate. Patch will provide update on any severe thunderstorms and event cancellations.

The picnic at Craig Park, just off Tarpon Avenue at Springs Boulevard, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature hot dogs, a water slide, paddle boarding, inflatables and lawn games.

The event will include a hot dog-eating contest at noon for ages 16 and up and live entertainment by the Bad Kitty Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring lawn chairs and towels.

Then head on over to Howard Park, 1700 Sunset Drive, at 7:30 p.m. for a fireworks show at sunset.

Parking is free after 6 p.m but limited so come early. The park’s gates will close when capacity is reached. Alcohol is not permitted in the park.

Or make reservations to watch the fireworks from the water. Spongeorama Cruise Lines and Odyssey Cruises, both located at the Sponge Docks, are offering special fireworks cruises.
