Tarpon Springs Bicyclist Killed After Crashing Into Car: Police
A bicyclist has died after colliding with a car Monday afternoon in Tarpon Springs.
TARPON SPRINGS, FL — A bicyclist has died after colliding with a car Monday afternoon in Tarpon Springs.
According to Tarpon Springs police, around 2:15 p.m., police and fire rescue personnel responded to a crash at Martin Luther King Drive and North Avenue.
Police said a 2002 Mercury four-door sedan driven by 66-year-old Stephen Virgil was headed west on MLK Drive when 18-year-old Oni Mercado of Tarpon Springs crashed into the car, according to police.

Mercado, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Advent Health North Pinellas where he died from his injuries.
Virgil was not injured.
