Tarpon Springs To Host 3 Halloween Events

The city will scare up events for young ghouls to old ghosts and everyone in between.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL -- From fun runs to fire trucks, there’s a bit of something scary (and not-so-scary) for Tarpon Springs residents to enjoy during October.

The City of Tarpon Springs has three Halloween-themed events lined up during the month. Two of the events, the Trunk or Treat Halloween Bash and the Tarpon Springs Holiday Safety Festival and Touch a Truck, are geared toward young children. The 5K Zombie Run is geared people age 10 and older.

5K Zombie Run

The Tarpon Springs Recreation Division will host the 5K Zombie Run on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. at the Tarpon Springs Splash Park, 508 Live Oak St. Participants will run through the creepy forest while avoiding the flag-grabbing zombies. The course consists of grass, trails, shell paths and pavement.

The race is $20 per participant in advance and $25 the day of the event. Children ages 10 to 17 must be supervised by an adult. The first 75 people to register will receive a T-shirt, and zombie medals will be awarded to winners. Residents interested in being a zombie, contact Ashley Harter at aharter@ctsfl.us.

Trunk or Treat Halloween Bash

The Tarpon Springs Recreation Division will host the free Trunk or Treat Halloween Bash on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tarpon Springs Community Center, 400 S. Walton Ave. The event acts as a safe alternative to trick or treating.

The event will take place in the parking lot, where children can visit multiple decorated car trunks to get candy. The Halloween Bash takes place in the gymnasium, where there will be inflatables, costume contests, music and more. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Tarpon Springs Holiday Safety Festival and Touch a Truck

The City of Tarpon Springs will host the 2017 Holiday Safety Festival and Touch a Truck event on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lowe’s Home Improvement, 41800 U.S. Highway 19 N. Aside from the Touch a Truck, the free event will feature trick or treating, pumpkin painting, interactive games, safety demonstrations and more. Children are invited to come in costume.

Attendees are asked to bring either a donation to the annual Fire Rescue Food Drive or a new, unwrapped toy for the annual Cops and Kids Toy Drive.
