Tarpon Springs Makes Sandbags Available
Breaking: The City of Tarpon Springs is offering sandbags to residents ahead of anticipated severe weather.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — Tarpon Springs residents planning to batten down the hatches in advance of anticipated severe weather later this week are getting a little help from the city.
Tarpon Springs has announced the opening of three sandbag locations now available to its residents. The locations are:
- Dorsett Park, 500 E. Harrison St.
- Splash Park, 508 E. Live Oak St.
- The Roosevelt Boulevard roundabout at Dodecanese Avenue
The city says sandbags will be available at these locations around the clock until supplies are exhausted.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service say the entire Tampa Bay area is likely in for a soggy week as a tropical depression makes its way into the Gulf of Mexico. The storm is expected to reach tropical storm status before moving near the Tampa Bay area sometime on Thursday.
