Tarpon Springs Student Vies for Rising Stars Scholarship
Lamont Kaiser, a Tarpon Springs High School senior, is a finalist in the program and needs votes from supporters.

Senior Sponger Lamont Kaiser is in the running to receive the Walker's Rising Stars Scholarship, which provides college scholarships to a number of artistically inclined students countywide.
In order for Kaiser to bring home the win, however, he needs a little support from his fans. The scholarship contest has a vote-based portion that plays a role in the final decision. Right now, Kaiser is currently in third place with a little more than 500 votes. You can vote for him here.
Kaiser is part of the jazz ensemble at Tarpon Springs High and on his fan page for the Pinellas Education Foundation, he wrote:

"Music doesn’t play a role in my life…music saved my life, music IS my life. It gave me hope for my future and something to devote myself to when life was difficult."
The Rising Stars scholarships are divided between solo performers in Pinellas County for dance, drama, vocal music, instrumental music, visual arts and to groups of up to three students for video arts.
Kaiser, along with other finalists from the area, will perform at Ruth Eckerd Hall on May 20 from 7 until 9 p.m.
