Tarponites Exceed $10,000 Goal for Veterans
The group organizing the sponge docks Memorial Day event We Salute You reported that they met the $10,000 goal they set out to reach.

As of May 24, organizers of the We Salute You event said they had met their fundraising goal of $10,000. The money will be donated to the Sand Soldiers of America organization.
The second annual event takes place at the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks on May 27 with a kickoff time of noon.
organizers revealed that they were almost 50 percent to their $10,000 goal.

Barlas & Chambers organized the first event and with its $8,000 fundraising success, the duo wanted to give it a second round.
In this second year, $12,000 has been raised, according to George Chambers.
Dress code for the event is casual, according to organizers.

An added note from the We Salute You crew is that there will be no entry to the event during the presentation of colors, pledge of allegiance and national anthem performance, so supporters are encouraged to arrive early.
