Tarponites Raise $10,000 for Veterans

The group organizing the sponge docks Memorial Day event We Salute You reported that it has met its $10,000 goal and is still going strong.

As of May 19, organizers of the We Salute You event said they had met their fundraising goal of $10,000. The money will be donated to the Sand Soldiers of America organization.

The second annual event takes place at the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks on May 27 with a kickoff time of noon.

Halfway through April, organizers revealed that they were almost 50 percent to their $10,000 goal.

An added note from the We Salute You crew is that there will be no entry to the event during the presentation of colors, pledge of allegiance and national anthem performance, so supporters are encouraged to arrive early.
