Trooper, Driver Hospitalized In Pinellas Crash: FL Highway Patrol
A St. Pete man lost control of his car on U.S. 19 in Tarpon Springs and hit a state trooper monitoring traffic, the FL Highway Patrol said.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL —n A St. Petersburg man lost control of his vehicle on U.S. Highway 19 in Tarpon Springs, hitting a state trooper parked in the median Sunday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Both the 34-year-old driver and the 27-year-old trooper were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The St. Pete man was heading north on U.S. 19 just before 2 p.m. when he lost control of his car, which rotated and hit the trooper, which was monitoring passing traffic north of Klosterman Road, FHP said.

The impact caused the patrol car to rotate and come to a rest in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19, while the St. Pete driver came to a stop in the northbound lanes.
