4 North Tampa Students are Semifinalists in National Program

Three students from King High School and one from Tampa Bay Tech are in the running to be named National Achievement Scholars.

The National Achievement Scholarship Program honors scholastically talented black 12th-graders across the nation, and four north Tampa students are semifinalists.

Tatiana N. Henry, Amber A. Johnson and Desirae J. Vaughn, all of King High School, and Jah’Nell M. Sampson, of Tampa Bay Tech, are in the running to be named National Achievement Scholars. They are among the highest achieving black students in the United States, according to a press release from Hillsborough County Public Schools.

A total of 19 12th-graders in Hillsborough County Public Schools have been named semifinalists, the release states. In January, they’ll learn whether they advance as finalists and qualify for scholarship awards.
