Buddy Baseball Starts New Season

Registration is open until Aug. 31. A meet and greet will take place Sept. 23.

It’s time for another season of to begin.

Buddy Baseball is a non-competitive recreational league for boys and girls with special needs in the Tampa Bay area. A buddy is paired with each player.

“The league fosters friendships and breaks down barriers,” said Buddy Baseball Commissioner . “Buddy Baseball is an opportunity like no other for children with special needs. Not only do the players experience the thrill of participating, they also get to experience team play and camaraderie.”

Players can be students ages 8 to 22 with special needs. Buddies can be 10 to 18 years old. Games are played at the softball fields.

Online registration for players, buddies and coaches is open until Aug. 31. Visit the Buddy Baseball website. The cost is $30 for players with special needs and $15 for buddies. There is no charge for coaches and scholarships are available.

Here is the Buddy Baseball schedule.

  • Meet and Greet: Sunday, Sept. 23
  • Season: Saturdays, Sept. 29-Nov. 10
  • End of Season Party: Saturday, Nov. 17
  • Games: Saturdays at 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m. or 1:30 p.m.
