Bush Bears Blossoming Beautyberries

Each Sunday, we'll post a photo of Temple Terrace nature from someone in the community as our Sunday Nature Photo.

If you had asked me a year ago what a beautyberry was, I would have had absolutely no idea what you were talking about.

But thanks to , I've learned that beautyberries are Florida native plants that can be a good source of food for birds and other wildlife. They can also be used to make jelly, or as Steven realized, a delicious syrup.

I came across these ripening beautyberries recently as I was walking my dog. Although their purple hue easily catches your eye, I thought the color gradient made them even more special.
