Church Needs Help Welcoming Vets Home

The First United Church of Tampa, 7308 East Fowler Ave., is hosting a community workshop to develop plans for a welcome home event for military men and women and their families.

The workshop will take place in the church’s Fellowship Hall on Aug. 19, 2-4 p.m.

This is a follow-up to the great response our delegation received during the 's crowd to our “Welcome Home Iraqi War Veterans” banner.

The focus of the welcome home event would be to:

• show our respect and appreciation for the service they have rendered; and
• provide a catalyst to ensure they are receiving the support needed for health, housing and employment needs.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in this issue, and all are encouraged to spread the word among their friends and family.
