Council Scheduled to Meet New Chamber Director

Here are a few things we thought you might like to know about, read about or better yet talk about today (Aug. 6).

Council Introductions

At their meeting tonight (Aug. 6), Temple Terrace City Council members are expected to meet Dustilyn "Dustie" Amatangelo, the Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce's new executive director, according to the meeting agenda. Amatangelo began working alongside the chamber's current executive director, Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy, Monday. She’ll take over the role Sept. 1. The council meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Also tonight at 6 p.m., the first in a series of public forums takes place to discuss transportation for economic development in Hillsborough County. Officials want to hear from you in a community-wide effort to foster job creation and retention through strategic investments in transportation. The forum is at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., 26th floor, Conference Rooms A and B. How would you enhance Hillsborough County’s chances in the economic marketplace through transportation?

Entering Monday's off day, the Tampa Bay Rays were 66-45 andjust a game behind the hated Boston Red Sox for first place in the American League East. The Rays return to action with a road trip that opens Tuesday night at 9:40 p.m. against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It's looking like a wet Tuesday in Tampa Bay, with a possibility of scattered showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service. As always this time of year, you'll want to have your umbrella with you just in case.
