Developer Credits City’s Vision in Redevelopment Story

Mike Vlass, head of Vlass Temple Terrace, was quoted in a story on GlobeSt.com.

The is arguably only a reality because of the City of Temple Terrace’s vision and financial commitment to that vision.

That’s according to Mike Vlass, a partner in Vlass Temple Terrace, LLC, the company in charge of the project, in a GlobeSt.com story posted Thursday.

In the story Redeveloped Downtown Temple Terrace Gains Traction by Jennifer LeClaire, Vlass says the city’s leadership was dedicated to redeveloping the site as demonstrated by their work to assemble and acquire the property and find money for improvements to its infrastructure.

Vlass also cites the company’s partnership with in the story, saying Sweetbay helped start after investing $3.5 million into renovating its existing store at the site.

Phase 2 of the project began Aug. 5 when north of Sweetbay started. A Dec. 1. Arts Center Drive from the park south to Chicago Avenue is also complete.

During the next step of Phase 2, Arts Center Drive will be extended from the park north to Bullard Parkway. That work is expected to be complete by February 2012, according to a press release.

Construction of the Arts and Education Center is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2012, and the facility is expected to begin offered classes in the spring of 2013, the release states.

Plans for the 214-unit multi-family residential complex were submitted to the city in the last week of November and construction is slated to begin by March 2012, the release states.
