Other facts
I have served as a junior high school English teacher, Title 1 reading teacher, middle school learning specialist, high school tutorial specialist, secondary drug education coordinator, Title 1 parent involvement coordinator, Title 1 reading supervisor, and elementary school principal. Upon retirement, from the district in 1996, I joined Educational Testing Services (ETS), serving as a technical assistance advisor and program developer assisting state departments of education, local districts, and schools in Florida and two Caribbean nations to improve their educational delivery. I also taught pre-service teachers and supervised interns in the final segment of their experience at the University of South Florida, College of Education. During my tenure as a school board member, I have represented the district on the board of directors and Legislative Committee of the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA), Hillsborough Education Foundation, and the Children’s Board. I was selected as a member of Florida’s Race to the Top student growth implementation committee and served as a member of Title 1 Committee of Practitioners, giving input to the Commissioner of Education and Chancellor regarding state-wide Title I implementation. Additionally, I am involved in our community and serve on several boards or advisory committees of community, civic, and professional organizations.
